I've researched my 'Howard' family in some depth for almost 4 years now. Once again I'd like to use the website's Message Board facility to contact a lost family member; my second-cousin, who I believe still resides in the Cwmbran area. Her name is Mrs. Elaine Dally, formerly Elaine Worsdell of East Road, Oakfield, Cwmbran. I would be so grateful if she got in touch with me via email

I wrote back a few months ago looking for a friend of mine who's married name I could not remember. Her maiden name was Beverly James. Her married name is Powell. They both loved in Risca back in 1982 which was the last time I had any contact with with. I have tried to find her on Facebook, but with no luck.
Hopefully now I have remembered her married name someone out there may know where she is and past this on to her.
I hope to hear some good news soon.

I'm looking for Minnie and Maz two girls from Cwmbran who used to follow a band called  Spear Of Destiny back in 1985. My mate Paul
Tatchell (Tatch) and I (Warren Basset) used to also follow Spear Of Destiny around the UK. These were obviously nick names and I don't
know their real names. I think Minnie and Maz were around 17 or 18  back in '85. If anyone knows them would they please put them in
contact with me via my emal. Thanks.

I am a solicitor specialising in industrial disease.  I represent a client who suffers from vibration white finger.  He says he worked at Metro Mon in Cwmbran from 1958 to 2002.  I need to identify Metro Mon’s employer’s liability insurer or the claim will fail.

Can you (or anyone) help with the following?  Was Metro Mon a limited company?  When did it close?  Was it taken over or sold as a going concern?  I note from your website that someone recalls that it was RCP then Lewis & Manley and that it closed well before 1999/2000.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,  I wonder if anyone  can help with a song we sung at school many years ago ....
I`m sure it was Welsh. I can only remember a few lines but would love to know the name of it
`rise men of  ? on against the foe, now let us all our valour show
turn back the Saxon, on against the land ..

Paul Watkins, formerly from Cwmbran now Nottingham responds: I’m pretty sure the song you remember is Welsh and is called `Captain Morgan’s March It starts ‘Rise men of Cymru, rise against the foe, Now let us all our valour show.  Turn back the Saxon make him fly the land …’ and at this point memory fails me!  But perhaps this will help you track it down

Jeff Meyrick responds: It's `Men of Harlech`

I have now set up a web site, www.cwmbranswardead.bravehost.com

This is a data base of the war dead of Cwmbran and District and is as yet far from complete as its based mainly on the names from the memorials in the area.

I would welcome any help in adding the missing names or filling in the details of the casualties I already have and would also welcome any photographs of the casualties or any memorabilia connected to them such photographs of medals, scrolls etc.

My family and I are trying to plan another trip 'home', this time for Christmas/new year.  When we visited in 2005 we stayed at Junction Cottage, which was magnificent to say the least !!  I have contacted Junction Cottage but unfortunately it is no longer available.  I was wondering if yourself or anyone would have any ideas as to where we might get self catered accommodation in or around Cwmbran?  We are looking for about 5-6 weeks from the end of Nov 2009 to mid Jan 2010.

Update: Unfortunately my family and I are unable to come over on holiday this Christmas as originally planned.  Many thanks to the people who emailed me with regards to accommodation in Cwmbran, this was very much appreciated and I will keep there suggestions on file for a later visit to Cwmbran.

Hope you all have a great festive season.

I was hoping there might be someone who might have any pictures of Llanfrechfa, particularly Crown Rise. We moved into number 42 in 2006 and have old paperwork for the bungalow we are now living in. It would be great if anyone could share their memories and/or pictures for us to see how it all used to be. I believe it was built around the late 1950's. My husband Dennis used to live in Bath Green, just off Crown Rise and he has no photographs of his childhood area. Any help would be fab! Many thanks.

Hello, just found your site which is amazing. I was brought up in Cwmbran. I left at age 17 to join the WRAC. It was lovely to see old pictures of old Cwmbran as I remembered as a child. I attended St Dials and then Oakfield junior school and then went on to Llantarnam. I guess the dates I lived there were from 1952-1969. Unfortunately I never returned to live in Cwmbran but visited regularly until the death of my mother. Hilda May Margaret Thomas. Would it be possible for you to post this on your board for me. I would love any contact with former school friends. I was Anna Filimonow before I married .

I am looking for a friend of mine, Mary Barrell who I remember lived in Ton rd, Cwmbran, she also has a brother called Richard (dicky) who played rugby for Newport. this was in the 1960's and early 70's. Mary was my best friend when we both attended St. Clares Convent in Porthcawl, we did our 'O' levels and then our lives went separate ways, especially when I came to Italy to live.
I often come to Cardiff and tried to find my friend but without success. I hope this message will be able to find Mary to see here once again as I've always thought of my school days with her.....

                                                                   Thanks for your help ...
