.. Saturday 26th September 2009 - 5 Locks Pontnewydd ..

I (webmaster) organised and took part in a Litter Pick to support Tidy Wales Week 21st - 27th Sept. 2009; Scouts, cubs and a beaver, together with their leaders from the 1st Pontnewydd Scout Group, along with PC. Kimberley Davies, PCSO. Zaihd Rhouf, and Cllr. Stuart Ashley, started off at Glenside Community Hall and as we collected litter along the canal towpath and made our way into the village, I attempted to offer a little local history knowledge. After a successful three hours, whereby we collected eight bags of litter, separated into different categories, i.e. cans, bottles, plastics etc; we made our way back to the hall for welcoming refreshments, kindly laid on by Julie Staddon.
