My sister Louise Post has written an item about our Grandfather Elijah Dudley and
we have now found some new cousins...the website is great and the photographs add
so much more to seeing where our family once lived - The Square, Upper Cwmbran

Thank you Nigel for this great website.  My grandfather was born at Square Cwmbran, Upper Llanvrechva in 1858.  I have been looking for information on Square Cwmbran and found your site and the wonderful photographs.  Thank you for making Square Cwmbran real to me.  I will now and forever carry a picture within of where my grandfather was born and where my great-grandparents lived.  Keep up the good work.  I am sure many will be grateful for your dedication.

I'm originally from West Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, but I now live in New Inn. A great town full of fantastic memories. When I hear people saying bad things like "dump...", I can only imagine that they just haven't had a good life here............or they are just miserable so and so's.

I love the site, and have spent hours on here reading everyone's comments about the good ole days, I lost my mum to breast cancer and I am no longer in contact with my dad, so its wonderful to be able to come on the site and read stories about how Cwmbran used to be; it almost makes me want to go back in time. The website  has made me more aware of our town and its changes, and I am now photographing any of the like so that I may too tell my children when they grow up of my time in Cwmbran.

Congratulations on receiving your community award.
And not before time I might add.

I read David Orphan's comments about you and especially the great work you have done for the canal, who could argue with that?
The canal has never looked better, its much less litter free and it seems local traders are doing their bit regarding shopping trolleys and the like,

Local people owe you a great deal for all the good work that you have done, not only for the canal but extending your site to others who have left our shores,
I myself have found endless old school friends and long lost neighbours, I myself would also like to say "thank you Nigel".

Hi Nigel:     I've just been introduced to this site by Brian Howard an old St. Dials' schoolchum, circa 1948.  Reading through the contributions has brought back so many old memories.  My family was one of the Lucas families, transplanted from Birmingham in 1940, to help start the Ministry of Aircraft Production factory in Grange Road.  We lived until 1950 at Court Farm Estate,  Llantarnam, before moving to live on the Caerleon Road in Llanfrechfa, where my mother resided until her death in 1997.   My father, Walter James Perry, owned an engineering business in the Avondale Industrial Estate.   After High School and University I lived with my wife in Bath Road, Llanfrechfa, for a year or two before emigrating to Canada.  I have lived in West Vancouver, British Columbia for the last 32 years and frequently visit South Wales where I still have family, my sister and her family living in Abergavenny.   It was wonderful to see and hear so many familiar sights and stories on your web page.  I will be a regular visitor. Thank you so much.

With Kindest Regards..John W. Perry.
