... Some interesting facts ...

The Tower block was originally designed for two reasons;

1. To act as a ` Landmark ` for travellers to Cwmbran.

2. To mask the two chimney stacks, which removed any fumes from the boilers, that heated the water primarily for the Cwmbran Shopping centre.

• It was designed by Gordon Redfern.

• It was built in 1967 and at that time was the tallest building in Wales.

• The cost was �385,269.

• It stands 210 feet high.

• It has 22 storeys.

• 81 Flats - 20 two bedroom, 40 one bedroom, 20 bed sitters and a flat for the caretaker.

• Underground parking.

• The rent originally was approximately �5.
