Adele Vickers (nee Rowland): I recognize myself in the first photo. I am the first girl on the left, on the row below the top row. My name was Adele Rowland and my father and uncle ran Rowland Bakery in Cwmbran. I recognize some of the names mentioned but they seem to be all boys so I am not that familiar with them since we parted company with boys after St.Dials Infants! You mention Janet Lloyd and I am wondering whether anyone has a contact address of any sort for her, since I would really like to get in touch with her again. I have lived in Canada for the last 30 years but visit England most years to visit my Dad and old friends

Date: 20th October 2007

Phil Palfrey responds: Excellent Website I didn't go to the nursery myself but I know most of the kids on the photo, the girl next to Michael Fry is Marianne Morris. Most of the children on that photo started school together in the little hut on Cocker Ave opposite the park.

Where the traffic lights are on the junction Henllys Way. Then we went to St. Dials infants. A few years there, Then our class were taught in the Elim Hall by Mr Cantelo for a couple of years until the Oakfield Junior school was opened.

Nursery in Two Locks Road, circa 1949.

This is a photograph taken at the little prefabricated nursery in Two Locks Road, circa 1949.

John Jenkins, formerly of Two locks, now residing in South Africa :-

Beside myself, some of the other kids names on the picture are:

Robin Irving, John Skellet, David Pattimore, Janet Lloyd, Marianne Morris (back to camera), Adele Rowland, Ruth Dunovan, Keith Ainsworth.

Philip Palfrey:- I was amazed when I saw the photo of the kids on the climbing frame in the old nursery. I knew Keith Ainsworth, we lived in the same street Fields Rd in the prefabs. Ruth Donavan, Marianne Morris and myself were among the first intake and some of the teachers from the old St Dials School to occupy the then newly opened Oakfield Junior School We then ended up in Llantarnam Secondary School as it was called then 1957.
