Hmmm, I wonder where I saw this and what was it, in it's former years ? ..
.. Yew Tree House is situated at one end of Ty-Coch Lane, adjacent to the Canal .
The owner told me, The building dates back to 1860, it was once a pub called The Yew Tree and closed in 1962 ,whereby the license transferred to the Oak Public House in Oakfield.
.. There is a V R Post Box in the wall ..
John Jenkins: The house was previously a pub until 1962, I'm not sure, but it was possibly called the Yew Tree.
Bill Barton: There was a hump back bridge over the canal The buildings were a shop and post office and I have vague recollections of it being a bakery once upon a time.
Congratulations !!

Hmmm, I wonder where I saw this and why is it `a bit special` ? .
.. In the wall adjacent to the old Post Office, Bethal Lane- Upper Cwmbran .
Why is it `a bit special` ?
.. The Post Box has embossed letters V R which stand for Victoria Regina, who reigned from 1837- 1901 ..
`Victoria was born at Kensington Palace, London, on 24 May 1819. She was the only daughter of Edward, Duke of Kent, fourth son of George III. Her father died shortly after her birth and she became heir to the throne because the three uncles who were ahead of her in succession - George IV, Frederick Duke of York, and William IV - had no legitimate children who survived`.

Hi Folks, photographed on the 20th March 2005, at Upper Cwmbran, adjacent to the old reservoirs, shows myself and other `Woodland Friends` planting numerous saplings which included Cherry, Crab Apple, Willow etc.
We were `playing our part` to support the Blaen Bran Community Woodland Project. The 100 acre Woodland officially known as Coed Gwain Y fferiad was recently purchased by a group of concerned, local residents, who formed themselves into a charitable limited company with the help of a grant from `Cydcoed Woods for All`. The `Blaen Bran `Community Woodland` Group intend maintaining the the woodland for the benefit of the whole Community.
Please show your support for this worthwhile venture by becoming a member, to find out more visit the Blaen Bran Community Woodland website at blaenbran.org.uk

Ok Folks, I admit I did have a quick look around to see if anybody was watching me take this photograph, it was a good job I wasn't wearing my `Anorak`... Anyway, this` Sponsored` Litterbin was one of the first installed (Sept.1994 ) within Torfaen to promote Torfaen Borough Council`s V.A.L.I. ( Campaign Against Vandalism & Litter ) initiative;
An environmentally friendly group of youngsters, known as ` The Green Team` from Ashley House Youth Centre were pleased to support this Venture. The Litterbin is situated by the bus stop, adjacent Ashley House Youth Centre on Mount Pleasant road, Pontnewydd. .... Go check it out, but be sure to leave your `Anorak` at home ...
