2010 Tidy Wales - Public Sector
- Award: Dave, Heather and myself attended the Tidy Wales Awards last Thursday in Cardiff. Unfortunately, again we didnt win our category, just pipped at the post for the third year running. We were outnumbered about 40:1 by the people of Mold (North Wales),who won our category. The one consolation is that, in addition to our certificate, we were given a cheque for 50.Hugh Woodford (Team Co-Ordinator)

Torfaen Canal Volunteer Group have been cleaning their local stretch of canal for four years and have finally secured the use of a boat to assist with removing the vast quantities of waste that they continue to find. This year alone the group has pulled out 210 bags of litter, 56 shopping trolleys, 15 chairs, 15 bicycles, an iron bed, radiator and two C.C.TV. cameras. Not only do they try to keep the canal clear of litter but they also enhance their local area by planting bulbs, wild flowers and hedgerows.Tidy Wales Award 2010 Citation:
