Photographed from St. David's Road (Town Centre) this scene shows the `groundwork` preparations for the �15 million leisure and entertainment complex, comprising of an eight screen cinema, 24 lane bowling alley and several restaurants. The developers are Mint Blue, a Cardiff based company. The complex should be ready for it's first customers in October 2008.
Judith says:- "That's the town centre showing Lloyds bank in the back ground. It's showing where the multi storey car park # 1 used to be. I recall at some stage it was used for roller-skating on the upper floors."

This scene, photographed in 1972, was taken from just above, where the Taliesin flats are now; on the left are the Industrial units opposite the Lidl store (not there in 1972). Immediately behind them and running along the centre of the photo is the railway track that has now been replaced by Cwmbran Drive. The Forge Hammer Industrial units can also be seen, adjacent to the Aldi`s store (also not there in 1972). To the right is Woodside Road and away in the distance can be seen the the two cupola furnaces at the number 5 foundry at the G.K.N works, where now stands Springvale Industrial Estate.

This photograph, from the mid sixties shows a bus, manufactured by BRISTOL (`bus` is a shortened version of `omnibus`, Latin "for everyone" ) and operated by the `Red & White` Company. As it progresses up Maendy Way to the bus terminus at Upper Cwmbran, to the right is the Yew Tree Public House and Maendy shops are adjacent to the bus stop .. N.b. Did you notice the motor bike and side car?

This is a view down Abbey Road, Old Cwmbran - The building, now demolished (late 70`s ) was called `The Abbey` Public House and was well known for the Monkey Puzzle tree in the garden.
