.. Autumn `reflections` on the slopes of Mynydd Maen ..

Autumn is a wonderful season, with nature's `colour palette` of  russets, ochres, yellows, greens and browns etc; displayed in all her splendour.

This Autumn, I enjoyed a  lovely walk in the woodland above Upper Cwmbran on the slopes of Mynydd Maen (Mountain of Stones). The weather was glorious, bright sunshine, wind free and `crisp` air temperature ... just as I like it ..

As I meandered along the pathways, gradually shedding the `hustle and bustle` of `everyday life`, I became more aware of my surroundings; the splendour and `majesty` of  the numerous and various trees, which included , Larch, Oak, Beech, Holly and Fir .......  Everywhere could be heard the `choral sounds` of birds, I particularly noticed pine cones were a favourite of the finches .. seeds and insects I guess .. I also spotted a a grey squirrel, darting along the branches, and a Green Woodpecker `pecking away like a good `un`.. strange name though, as it has a red cap and yellow back ..

Occasionally, I ventured off the pathways and as I manoeuvred my way through the ferns I became aware of  various fungi, dotted singularly or in small clumps ... don't ask me their names though, suffice to say they varied in size shape and colour ..

As time moved on I became `at peace` and `in tune` with my environment, acknowledging the necessity and importance; that we care, nurture and protect our environment for ourselves and future generations to come.

The walk in the woodland and my `reflections` on the slopes of Mynydd  Maen were a `tonic` for my soul and I would encourage everyone  to take `time out`for themselves and experience the `pleasure` which is literally on our `doorstep` ....
