Zoar Chapel  (Baptist) - built in 1836

Location: Castell -y- Bwlch,

Zoar Chapel (now disused) is situated approximately 50 metres from the Castell-y-Bwlch Public House on Craig-Ceiliog Lane (Henllys-Newport-Risca lane).

Although a small and modest building, the three Gothic windows set into the west facing wall, look out towards Twm Barlwm and the surrounding hillside, therefore, the assembled congregation would surely have enjoyed many  a `wonderful sunset`.

Baptisms were  originally carried out in the local stream, one reason being a `source of water`and another; it would be a `great spectacular` whereby believers or unbelievers (for now) would  certainly be aware of  `what was about to happen` .

Crowds would gather, Farmers, their wives, sons and daughters, workers of the land etc.; all decked out in their `Sunday best` to watch the presiding minister, deacons, maybe a guest preacher, administer the baptism ceremony to it's  black-robed candidates.
