.. In the Spring of 2000 a major redevelopment of the Town Centre unfolded ..
Town Centre owners, Prudential Assurance, devised the scheme to redevelop and rejuvenate the north west corner of the shopping centre. The ambitious scheme at an eventual cost of �21.000.000, would include the relocation of the Asda Supermarket, 500 new parking spaces immediately outside and a further 350 spaces on a lower level. A three storey Woolworths store and further four retail units were planned.
Plans for the redevelopment were drawn up by HMA Architects of Cardiff.
The Project development was handled by Heery International Limited. Headquarters Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A
Preferred contractors for the development scheme were Tilbury Douglas Construction.

.. August 2000 .. Phase 1 Major demolition work is underway to include Sainsbury's multi storey car park, General Rees House, Dyfed House and the Health Clinic on Caradoc Road. This photograph shows the demolition of Dyfed House (Office Block). Asda Supermarket (centre right); and the green cladding of the South Wales Electricity Board Offices (centre) can also be seen. |

November 2000 ..
This photograph shows the construction of the lower level of the new car parking facilities and would eventually cater for 350 cars; with a further 500 spaces above. |

This photograph shows part of a 100metre long mural, surrounding construction work at General Rees Square. The `brightly coloured and lively mural` was planned and painted in the summer by school children from six local schools.
Artist, Julian Davenne worked with the budding `artists` and was delighted with the result. |

.. February 2001 .. This photograph shows the Health Clinic on Caradoc road; the 30 year old building was demolished in June 2001, to make way for the new development. A new hi-tech Health Clinic was later built on land behind the Magistrates Court.

19th October 2001 .. After extensive groundwork reconstruction, which included two levels of car parking facilities; Asda Supermarket is relocated, reopens and `awaits` her customers.
(the sheep, had other things on their mind ! )

.. February 2004 .. Phase 2 This photograph shows further work in progress, with restructuring of the Old Asda building and the Llewellyn road multi storey car park.

Phase 2 Completed at a cost of �8.000.000 In August 2005 `Cwmbran Shopping` were pleased to announce `fait accompli` and visitors can now enjoy shopping in the newly created, 90,000 sq.ft; `Llewellyn Walk` shopping mall. Easily accessed car parking on three levels by lift or staircase completes your `shopping experience`
